Chance Care in MENA Region: NCCN Global Meeting
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) has taken center stage in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region with a two-day meeting at the MENA-NCCN Regional Coordinating Center. This crucial event, starting today, is supported by the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Kanan Al Shammari, leading the office, has been collaborating closely with NCCN since 2014 to ensure the adaptation of quality guidelines and the exchange of knowledge.
Expert Insights and Regional Impact
Experts from various regions will be sharing new and updated NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®): MENA Editions during this international meeting. These guidelines offer evidence-based expert consensus-driven recommendations for cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and supportive care. Tailored for unique local and regional circumstances, the NCCN Guidelines: MENA Editions will be a focal point of discussion.
Dr. Al Shammari emphasized the importance of integrating global cancer care standards with regional expertise to enhance treatment outcomes across the MENA region. The collaboration between NCCN and MENA oncology experts aims to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families in the area.
Empowering the MENA Community
The ongoing relationship between NCCN and cancer care experts in the MENA Region has resulted in the publication of over a dozen NCCN Guidelines specifically for this region. These guidelines cover a wide range of cancers, empowering the MENA oncology community to deliver high-quality cancer care, enhance scientific communication, and improve access for patients.
Crystal S. Denlinger, MD, Chief Executive Officer of NCCN, highlighted the global impact of the organization during a session on the History of NCCN. The NCCN Guidelines: MENA Editions provide essential guidance for healthcare providers, offering a comprehensive approach to cancer care with global recommendations and feasible regional modifications.
Global Reach and Patient-Centered Care
The NCCN Global Program extends its reach with translated guidelines in over 50 languages, ensuring that healthcare providers worldwide can access essential information for cancer care. The NCCN Guidelines for Patients® offer clinical recommendations in non-medical terms, catering to patients and caregivers in need of clear and concise information.
As we navigate the complex landscape of cancer care, initiatives like the NCCN Global Meeting play a vital role in shaping the future of oncology in the MENA region. By bringing together experts and stakeholders, we pave the way for improved treatment outcomes and a brighter future for cancer patients in the region.
